Oh my goodness! These have been fun to look back on! This is the FIRST home we ever owned…almost 3,000 square feet and tons of projects. Wallpaper, old carpet, dark + dreary paint, old house problems….but we loved it! THIS home is where my love for remodeling and DIY was born. It happened out of necessity. We were in our early 20’s with no money and no skills. This house taught us how to be creative and frugal with decorating.
All of the pictures were taken on my old phone. Who even knows what phone was being used back then in 2007!? Sorry they are blurry….but you can get a picture of where my love for re-doing homes began!
We painted the walls a neutral and light color and used plenty of white. I also painted the mantle white and removed the magnetic gold strip from the front of the fireplace. The chairs were garage sale and Target clearance! I had to learn how to inexpensively add decor and finishing items to our place.
Seeing these…makes me REALLY miss having a sunroom leading out to a deck and pool.
Thank goodness the kitchen was in excellent shape when we moved in! We didn’t do much in the kitchen besides replace some appliances.
Don’t you LOVE that stained glass inset into the kitchen ceiling!!?! It was so pretty when lit up at night. It was also on a dimmer so we could have pretty low light too.
Here is the entry/stairway a few months after we moved in. We had already removed wallpaper from walls and painted a lighter color. We eventually removed the old carpet and refinished the original wood floors underneath! Our very FIRST experience in floor refinishing!
I really miss that stairway! I loved the detail in the wood work!
We had THREE living rooms in this house….here is a tiny pic of one of them. We still have that couch and those movie reels!
I wish I could locate a picture of the third living room! We built a huge wall of built-in storage….and it was a huge transformation. I am crossing my fingers that I can locate a pic soon!
Both of the bathrooms were large and luckily the upstairs bathroom didn’t need much work. The main bathroom needed a little more TLC. We removed wallpaper, re-tiled the floors, painted the vanity and added some storage.
This was our very first attempt at decorating a nursery! I loved that room. It was huge and had a cute dormer AND a secret door that led to a cute storage space. I always wanted to turn it into a secret playroom. Then we moved haha! If we still had this house…I would totally transform that space into a cool play spot!
Another bedroom. There were four. I could only find pictures of 3.
We still have this old door headboard! We also still use these lamps….now in the living room. Our room was huge for an older house.
I learned a lot from living in this house and from the experiences we had there! We learned so many DIY skills and how to take care of an older home. We worked hard to brighten up the house and to make it our own…with a much smaller budget!
