This post contains affiliate links which help to keep this little ol’ blog running with no extra cost to you! If you purchase any of the products that I have linked back to Amazon, I receive a small bit of compensation. It takes a ton of time to write, edit, create images and learn about SEO, etc., etc. so I greatly appreciate any help! As always, I only share products when I absolutely love them and want to let you all know about them. Today is no exception!
I began eating in a Trim Healthy Mama way (cutting out refined sugars and processed starches & thinking about fuels) about 18 months ago and have absolutely loved almost all of their recipes! Better yet…it has helped me slowly and healthily lose some extra fluff and kick sugary coffee drinks and diet coke to the curb!
I have zero desire to drink “pop” and THAT is a miracle!!
Just a few years ago, I would drink a large McDonald’s Diet Coke most days of the week (and sometimes two)! I’ve been able to keep off around 25 pounds from my highest weight.
I mess up though. I actually ate horribly ALL summer. Literally ate terribly from Memorial Day to Labor Day. But…I am motivated to get back on track! My plan is to slowly get back to cooking better meals and being more intentional about what snacks I choose.
I’ve been saving the newest Trim Healthy Mama cookbook in my Amazon account for months and FINALLY pulled the trigger and pressed “buy”! The book arrived last week and I am loving the new motivation to stay “on plan” as I sift through the new recipes.
I actually spent some time at a friends house this week and we dug into our books. We both made a pact to get back on plan and to make the new books we bought be motivation to cook better food for ourselves and for our families.
She bought the Necessary Food cookbook by Briana Thomas . You can find that one here! Briana is an adorable Mennonite girl who follows a THM way of eating & she has tons of comfort food recipes that us Midwesterner folk are accustomed to! I grew up around the Amish & Mennonite community and have a sentimental spot for their kind of soul food! Briana is also a huge ice cream lover….so there is that bonus point for her too!
The Trim Healthy Table cookbook I bought can be found here! Pearl & Serene are mamas of large families so I truly appreciate their budget minded food. They do their very best to keep costs low and to have filling food for their families. They are beautiful God-fearing women who also want to honor God by taking care of their health.
Something like buying a new book can be just the kick in the pants I need!
Today I made Amish Broccoli Slaw from page 271 for my afternoon snack. It was delicious! Jon got home and devoured the rest of the bowl. We love broccoli in our house and when little morsels of bacon is added….oh yeah! Winner!
I’ve got a pretty long list of which recipes I want to try first and cannot wait to see how they all turn out!
Tonight I am making the Tuscan Cream Chicken and am going to serve it over “troodles” (zucchini noodles). It sounds so delicious!!
This is what I love about the recipes the most…delicious food and not feeling deprived or extremely restricted. It is also been a good mind-shift from trying to make our bodies into something unattainable (and failing), to accepting a more healthy & womanly body. The authors call it our “Queen” body. We are not living in our “Princess” bodies anymore and we should embrace our curves and the season we are in. The goal is not to get six-pack abs but to gently fuel our bodies with healthy food and trim up naturally.
I would definitely recommend reading the Trim Healthy Mama Plan book and also purchasing the cookbooks. The first one is here and the newest one can be found here. They feature a huge variety of recipes and also have found ways to make things like cheese puffs, marshmallows and cakes in a healthier way. I am being serious here people!
Please comment if you would like me to share more of these healthy foods! I have loved their recipes and am super excited to make the new ones!
Also…if you are struggling with extra fluff and feel sluggish and just defeated with trying to get your eating together…seriously give this way of eating a try!
I have many friends that have been extremely successful with THM and say that it is life-changing because it has been sustainable and it is full of grace. Take it slow and enjoy the process!
