Hooray for fall decor!!
Is anyone else out there in internet land extremely happy for the fall season!?
I am grateful to live in a place where I can fully experience all four seasons.
But fall though! It holds a special place in my heart!
I’ve been burning my pumpkin candles since July (oops) and although I adore summer, there is something magical about the transition into fall. Maybe it’s the freshness in the air, or maybe just the cozy clothes and comforting scents. I cannot wait to wear sweaters, boots and all the layers!
Hmm…now that I think about it, it could be the food?!
My belly starts to crave savory soups and warm gooey dishes from the oven. I am pretty sure I could eat chili soup three times a week and be totally happy with that! My mind is wandering now. Yummy cinnamon tea, warm bread, pumpkin spice, lots of coffee……oh yeah!
I once had this magical blue pumpkin. She was from a local patch and lasted in my house for more than 6 months! The thing would not rot! I loved that lil’ pumpkin! We may or may not have had a “celebration of life” service for that pumpkin. Kidding! Or am I? Haha!
Oh wow, I get off track easy.
Fast forward. Last week I bought a few new fall decor items!! I usually only decorate a couple tables…so I only needed to grab a few items to make a big impact.
Doesn’t the table my hubs built me look adorable with these blue & white pumpkins!?!
I also dug through my decoration stash to fill in the places that needed a little somethin’ somethin’.
I ended up decorating in three places. The coffee table and the two side tables.
I love that it all blends in with my existing color scheme and vibe. I don’t have to change the throw pillows or too many things to fit in with these little cuties! Simplicity and using what I already own is a big deal to me.
The paper underneath the pumpkins is from an old music book I’ve had for over a decade. I also used that book to make a paper wreath a few years ago. Old books to the rescue!!
The gold votives have also been on the coffee table for months and the wood slices have been in storage for a while. The dried eucalyptus has been sitting around in my closet for at least a year hah! The scrabble tiles were a last minute idea and I found just enough tiles in my stash to spell Harvest. Woot!
Pumpkin patches, apple picking, cider, bonfires and hayrides. All of these things have me feeling grateful for the fall season and all the wonderful things that we have to look forward to.
What do you love about fall and the changing seasons in general?
I think I love it so much because it is a perfect time to change gears.
The house gets refreshed. My clothing gets refreshed. We make different meals and cozy up inside more. I look forward to all the fun activities and holidays we celebrate. I think about what I want to accomplish in the next season and where I feel God is leading me.
I can let myself get stuck in a rut and the actual seasonal change forces me to mix it up.
It is like God has purposefully made life to have built-in notifications. We are notified or reminded throughout the year that change is coming. It’s like He is reminding us not to get too comfy in a circumstance or a season of life and to always be looking forward to His next big plan for you. God isn’t stagnant and neither are we. We are always changing and I want to be intentional about how I am loving and serving the Lord in each season of life.
Fall is also a time where I feel a deeper need to cozy up and nurture my family. I just want to wrap them up in a warm blanket and hug them. And then feed them warm soup! I’ve heard people call it “Fall Nesting” and I agree with that!
Ok, I got a little chatty about my excitement for fall! Oops!
I hope you all have a great week and can do some “Fall Nesting” for your family. Enjoy your circumstance (even if it is a hard one right now) and cherish this time you have been given!
