I have been on a long journey to just…be healthier. I woke up one day and hated that my mid-30 year old body felt creaky. And puffy. I knew that I could do better and needed to take better care of myself. I was wanting more energy and less junk in my life.
Last year, I decided I really DID need to quit my Diet Coke + Starbucks habits. Before you start to feel bad for me….there is good news! I seriously don’t miss having my old drinks.
Changing my soda & fancy coffee habits was THE FIRST thing I did in my journey to a healthier life. I knew that I would do much better if I changed my ways little-by-little. I decided that my daily drinks would be sugar-free drinks from now on! Notice I said “daily drinks”…that is because I definitely allow myself treats sometimes. I love ice cream and occasionally eat it. Admittedly, I eat it way too much in the summer. But oh well. Baby steps!
I just don’t thrive on deprivation or sudden changes. I enjoy my food and drinks way too much to be drastic. I do still enjoy a Starbucks from time to time…just choose better options when I am there. I sometimes even bring my own Stevia packets for personalized sweetening!
After talking to Erin (my friend), about Trim Healthy Mama….I finally had the courage to ditch pop and sugary coffees. She encouraged me to try “Good Girl Moonshines” and assured me that adding vinegar to my drinks would not taste gross. Since I totally trust her taste…I tried a few of the Moonshine drinks and was hooked! They have helped me replace my cravings for Diet Coke and Starbucks AND have a lot of Zing that I am wanting in the afternoon.
Here is how I make this drink!
1/2 packet True Lime Watermelon
1 tsp. Unfiltered ACV
1 small sprinkle of Ground Ginger (Fresh is better…but I am lazy sometimes ha!)
Fill the glass with cold water & drink!
I won’t give any lectures or studies on the positive effects of Apple Cider Vinegar or Ginger here (yet)…..but I do encourage you to try this drink out. I use Bragg’s or Heinz brand of Unfiltered ACV! Love them both! The bottle of vinegar will last for a couple months.
Try this True Lime Watermelon mix especially if you have never tried adding vinegar. It is a delicious start to including ACV into your life! The best way I can describe it is…..a tangy and refreshing watermelon-lime flavor. It’s like having a zingy juice!
I have also tried the True Lime Lemonade Peach mix and like it too. It is like drinking a tangy lemonade.
I hope to blog a few more Good Girl Moonshine recipes from the book and from my own kitchen! Have you ever tried giving up pop/soda or fancy coffee?? How did you fight the cravings?
