Home Decor Finds at IKEA
Mixing high and low priced home decor is a classic tip for how to make your house feel personal and layered instead of too matchy-matchy. Please resist the urge to pick out a matching set at the furniture store. I know it is harder to collect items over time…but that is how you tell your story in your home.
Grandma’s old furniture actually looks amazing next to a brand new piece. Juxtaposition. Mixing old and new items is such a great way to help your home look and feel interesting. Vintage markets and antique stores are a gold-mine for unique decor…BUT…I also love me some IKEA stuff! The price is hard to beat and I love how they are mindful of function and space constraints. Oh, I almost forgot…I love the Nordic style of embracing simplicity and function while still being beautiful.
A couple weeks ago, I was able to join some friends on a trip to IKEA. By the way…the nearest store is 3.5 hours away! Good news though! Indy will soon have their own IKEA so the drive will only be 1.5 hours!!! Not in the backyard, but definitely doable!
If you have never been to the giant store…..please try it sometime! And take your time going through so you can enjoy it as much as possible.
Ok, back to what I purchased that day!
Lillhojden Swivel Desk Chair
I have been on the hunt for a desk chair (with wheels) for some time. When I ran into this one and it was 50% off, you betcha I bought it! The grey and white pattern was the only one on sale…and I actually prefer the pattern to the plain white! Hooray! It is very comfortable and glides well on our wood floors.
This functional bin can be used in hundreds of ways. I HAD to buy it for dog food storage. I have been wanting an upgrade from the clear, plastic bin we had been using. I love this bin! It hides the dog food well and keeps the kibble smell contained.
I like to collect throw pillows. Wait. I actually LOVE throw pillows. Thank you IKEA because at $5-$6 each for these pillow covers…I stocked up! I wish I would have bought more. Next time maybe!
Faux Plant + Pistagenot Basket
Crazy plant lady here. I cannot have enough plants…real or fake in my house. This IKEA plant and pot look great and are quite a deal for pretty real-looking faux plant!
Hektar Pendant Light
I’ve searched all over the internet and could not find another pendant just like this one! And for such a good price! We plan on installing it above the kitchen sink for some much needed task light!
Due to downsizing to a much smaller bedroom…we have been on the hunt for a solution for our lack of lamp space. These lovely sconces are perfect! They plug into the outlet behind the bed and have an easy on/off switch. Plus, they look great! I would buy these again in a heartbeat!
If I haven’t convinced you yet…..please go and enjoy the goodness of IKEA for yourself! Just make sure to invite me along! Tell me…..what is YOUR favorite IKEA purchase?!
